Inside the Executive Assistant Professional Certification
Explore The Core High-Performing EA Standard, Elective Capability Units, and the skills that set exceptional Executive Assistants apart.
The Core
Completed by all participants (2 days, live or self-paced).
The Core establishes the foundational way a certified Executive Assistant thinks, operates, and leads. It focuses on judgement, responsibility, language, and professional standards, the capabilities that sit underneath strong performance in every EA role.
The Core is not about tools or tasks. It is about how you show up, make decisions, and create impact under pressure.
Unit 1: Moving from Reactive Support to Strategic Operation
Most Executive Assistants are exceptionally good at responding to what is in front of them. This unit helps participants move beyond task execution and develop the judgement, foresight, and business awareness required to operate strategically.
Participants learn how to prioritise based on impact rather than urgency, anticipate needs before they arise, and shift from being a reactive responder to a trusted thinking partner who contributes to better business outcomes.
Unit 2: Influence, Language, and Executive Presence
The way an EA communicates shapes how they are perceived and the influence they are able to have. This unit develops the language, confidence, and presence required to influence outcomes, gain buy-in, and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
Participants learn how to communicate with greater authority, create clarity in conversations, and position themselves as a credible professional whose voice carries weight.
Unit 3: Ownership of Problems and Decision-Making
High-performing EAs are known for their ability to bring solutions, not just issues. This unit develops the mindset and behaviours required to take ownership, exercise sound judgement, and make decisions with confidence.
Participants learn how to identify root causes, address challenges early, navigate ambiguity, and become the person executives trust to move important work forward.
Unit 4: Integrity, Trust, and Professional Credibility
Trust is the foundation of every successful Executive Assistant partnership. This unit focuses on the professional standards, behaviours, and personal accountability that build long-term credibility.
Participants learn how to honour commitments, maintain integrity under pressure, manage sensitive situations professionally, and strengthen the trust that allows them to operate with greater autonomy and influence.
Unit 5: Leadership Stance and Visibility
Leadership is not determined by title. It is reflected in how someone shows up, contributes, and influences those around them. This unit helps participants develop a leadership mindset and increase their visibility within the organisation.
Participants learn how to lead from where they are, demonstrate confidence and ownership, contribute beyond their immediate responsibilities, and become recognised for the value they bring.
Unit 6: Future-Focused Thinking and Career Leverage
The role of the Executive Assistant is evolving rapidly. This unit helps participants step beyond day-to-day demands and take ownership of their future career direction.
Participants learn how to identify opportunities, develop future-ready capabilities, think strategically about their professional growth, and position themselves for greater influence, impact, and career progression.
Elective Capability Units
Choose three to complete your certification (2-3 hours each).
In addition to The Core, EAs must select three elective units aligned to their role and development goals. Each elective builds depth in a specific capability area. Electives are drawn from The EA Institute’s advanced curriculum to reflect real executive expectations and are delivered via pre-recorded video.
Participants receive 12 months' access to all elective units, giving them the flexibility to complete additional electives beyond their selected three as their professional development needs change.
